Generating and profile grinding
In generating grinding, the workpiece is machined using a grinding wheel with specific tooth profiles. This grinding wheel is shaped in such a way that it grinds the desired tooth profile into the workpiece. Generating grinding thus enables the production of gears with extremely tight tolerances and a high surface quality, which are crucial for the smooth functioning of the gears at CHEMNITZER ZAHNRADFABRIK.
In profile grinding, on the other hand, the workpiece is machined using a grinding wheel that has the exact shape of the profile to be machined. This grinding wheel moves along the workpiece in a precisely defined path and grinds the desired profile layer by layer. This allows complex shapes and geometries to be produced with high precision and repeatability, such as those required in tools, moulds and medical implants.
Both processes require specialised grinding machines that are precisely controlled in order to achieve the required dimensional accuracy and surface quality. Gear and profile grinding therefore enables us to produce high-quality gearing parts for a wide range of industrial sectors.
